BURMA

It maybe the mystical Irrawaddy River or the remoteness of Burma (Myanmar) that seemed worth a trip.  Our journey upriver brought a panoply of craft—-from rowed long boats to transports.  The river, like the Nile, was clearly the country’s major thoroughfare.  Our boat’s capacity was forty; for all of us it was an exploration.

Burma is a land of temples.  I have been to some of the world’s most revered places of worship, but pound for pound of gold, Burma’s outshines all but Cambodia.  After three or four, I was numb to one more of country’s more than two thousand.

The river and it’s simple settlements along its banks were the more enchanting as we motored along.  Picking through my collection of photos, I discovered that I had a thing for sunsets.
